BEACHES OF TENERIFE SOUTH<\/b><\/p>\n

Let’s start with the beaches that are worth a visit, both in Costa Adeje and in the municipality of Arona or Santiago del Teide:<\/span><\/p>\n

Los Cristianos Beach<\/b><\/p>\n

Located in the municipality of Arona, this beach combines a seafaring atmosphere with the comforts of a beach prepared by tourism. Los Cristianos Beach is of golden sand, with a calm swell and a wide range of water sports. It is an urban beach, surrounded by services and a wide range of restaurants.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not an excessively large beach but it has all the comforts to spend the day, and access adapted for people with reduced mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los Gigantes cliff and Los Guios beach<\/b><\/p>\n

The Cliff of Los Gigantes is an extraordinary place in Santiago del Teide and is worth a visit, whether you are a beach or nature lover. The Cliffs have a vertical cut that emerges from the sea and is imposing, with heights that reach 600m. This natural spectacle merges with sea beds that reach 30 metres deep, creating a beautiful contrast with the deep blue and the colour of the volcanic stone.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a small cove next to the cliffs, called Playa de Los Guios, from which you can enjoy the extraordinary views of this natural feature. In addition, it is surrounded by restaurant and leisure services, such as whale-watching excursions, diving baptism or boat trips.<\/span><\/p>\n

The access is easy and is done on foot.<\/span><\/p>\n

La Jaquita Beach<\/b><\/p>\n

This beach located in the municipality of Gu\u00eda de Isora, has a surprising combination of small black sand coves and natural pools. You will reach the coast by a promenade, ideal for a walk at sunset.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beach is small, with black sand and clean water. On the beach you can enjoy a hammock and parasol rental service, and we suggest alternating bathing in the open sea with swimming in natural pools.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the surroundings you will find restaurants, tascas and other leisure establishments.<\/span><\/p>\n

El M\u00e9dano<\/b><\/p>\n

This beach, located in Grandilla de Abona, stands out for its particular grey sand and the accompaniment of the Monta\u00f1a Roja rise, a volcanic cone that makes this location unmistakable. This beach with several different areas, the closest to the village of El M\u00e9dano is the most familiar and with less waves, the farthest area is more windy and is a regular place for windsurfing and kitesurfing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Playa del Duque (Duke’s Beach)<\/b><\/p>\n

Ideal if you are looking for disconnection and relaxation. Playa del Duque is located in Adeje, it has very clean white sand and there is a lot of commercial and catering activity around it. You can enjoy a rental service of hammocks and umbrellas.<\/span><\/p>\n

It does not usually have excessive waves, so bathing is usually very easy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Access to the beach is comfortable and adapted for people with reduced mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n

MARITIME LEISURE AND WATER SPORTS<\/b><\/p>\n

The southern area offers many activities for both adventure lovers and seekers of tranquility and relaxation. Travelling to Tenerife is an opportunity to get started in activities such as scuba diving, kitesurfing or whale watching.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diving<\/b><\/p>\n

The seabed of Tenerife is full of life, from typical fish of the Canary Islands to turtles or mutts are waiting for you. If you have never dived before, there are dives for beginners which are called baptisms and serve as a contact point.<\/span><\/p>\n

The volcanic bottoms with curiously shaped rocks alternate with areas of large sandbanks. Among the most frequent places for diving are Puerto Los Gigantes, Radazul, Las Galletas, Abades and Las Eras.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kitesurfing and Windsurfing<\/b><\/p>\n

We already mentioned it in the section of beaches, the area of El M\u00e9dano is ideal for the practice of water sports linked to the wind. You can choose to take beginners’ classes, rent equipment if you have already mastered the discipline, or simply go and enjoy the show of pirouettes that takes place every day. The spectacle of kites flying through the air is very picturesque, and regional, national and international competitions are often held in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Siam Park<\/b><\/p>\n

Siam Park is a world-class water park. Both for families and for lovers of water attractions, this park is a must in the southern area. It has been chosen for 5 consecutive years as the best water park in the world by the users of Tripadvisor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among its attractions are a giant wave pool, rapid descent slides, a giant funnel with a 45-degree inclination, a 28-meter slide through an aquarium and numerous attractions with floats.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside this park you will find hammock service, souvenir shops, a wide range of restaurants, and even private cabins and villas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sighting of cetaceans<\/b><\/p>\n

Tenerife is the best European location for whale and dolphin watching. A population of bottlenose dolphins and pilot whales lives in a stable way in the island waters, which is completed with the sporadic appearance of other species such as spotted dolphins, common dolphins, rorquals, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can make short excursions of about 2 hours with only sighting, or others of longer duration in which sighting is combined with bathing in the open sea, and even tours along the south coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

TREKKING AND TRAILS<\/b><\/p>\n

Hell’s Ravine<\/b><\/p>\n

This ravine belongs to a protected natural area, and is a great way to get to know the Canarian nature. During the winter and spring, it is common to see a small waterfall of 200 meters high and a small stream at the bottom of the ravine. The round trip in this place takes about 3.5 hours in total, and allows you to get to know typical flora such as cardones and tabaibas, remains of thermophilic forest and bushes like the escob\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

Access is restricted to 300 visitors per day, so you will need to obtain permission to access.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tajao Arch<\/b><\/p>\n

A route through a rocky and arid landscape, is the one that is completed by the Bijagua Ravine, and that leaves from the Tajao Farmhouse to the Tajao Arch and returns to the starting point. This section by foot has a low difficulty, and is completed in about 3 hours. During this route you will be able to see several natural caves, the Caleta del Sordo, the Pozo de Tajao, and beautiful coastal and village landscapes.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can follow an interpretative route called the Ecomuseum of the Stone, which reveals the importance of the use of the chasnera stone. The arrival at the Tajao Arch is simple, and you will also find information about the particularities of this rock formation.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the way back you can take a swim in the coast and enjoy seafood restaurants.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is very important to take a hat, sunscreen and something to hydrate yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malpa\u00eds de G\u00fc\u00edmar<\/b><\/p>\n

The Malpa\u00eds de G\u00fc\u00edmar is a route suitable for people who do moderate physical activity, which allows them to enjoy a typically volcanic landscape. This area was declared a Special Natural Reserve due to its ecological importance, and is populated by caves and volcanic tubes. If you do not know the cardonal-tabaibal of the islands, it is a perfect place to discover it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among its particularities, two salt mines in good condition stand out.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are three trails to explore the area and you can choose the one that is most interesting to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pelada Mountain<\/b><\/p>\n

Monta\u00f1a Pelada offers a small tour along the coast, in which you can discover the formation of a volcanic cone from an underwater eruption.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located in the municipality of Granadilla, this beach has a wild character and offers you beautiful views when you climb to the highest point. You can access it by a path from El M\u00e9dano.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s important to have sunscreen and water.<\/span><\/p>\n

Red Mountain<\/b><\/p>\n

This protected natural area is located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. In this Natural Reserve there are wetlands and the Monta\u00f1a Roja volcano, which reaches 171 metres in height. This space of about 166 hectares, offers many areas and sandy beaches, which form a very particular landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ascent to the top of Monta\u00f1a Roja is easy, and you will be able to enjoy incredible views of the Atlantic.<\/span><\/p>\n

These areas are very exposed to the sun, we recommend sunscreen, a hat and always carry hydration and some food.<\/span><\/p>\n

FUN AND GAMES<\/b><\/p>\n

Beach of the Americas<\/b><\/p>\n

The area of Playa de Las Americas is a space designed for tourists. Around the 4 beaches grows an idle life, with a wide range of restaurants, shops and a rich nightlife.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are looking for a fun and drinkable area, we recommend Papagayo Beach Club, with Balinese beds overlooking the sea and opening hours that include day and night. Very close to this establishment is the Monkey Beach, a space for drinks and lots of chill out to disconnect.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife<\/b><\/p>\n

The Hark Rock Hotel and Caf\u00e9 in Tenerife has in a short time become an icon to be seen in South Tenerife. From its well-known coffee of typical American gastronomy, to its Rock Spa and its swimming pools, this space is thought for the visitor to live an experience of fun and party.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paragliding<\/b><\/p>\n

The southern part of the island offers numerous points for paragliding, the most prominent of which are in Adeje and G\u00fc\u00edmar, and you will easily find companies specializing in this service. Flying over the island with a feeling of complete freedom can create an unforgettable memory of a visit to Tenerife.<\/span><\/p>\n

Valleys, coastal areas, ravines and volcanoes await you with their majestic presences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Golf<\/b><\/p>\n

If you are passionate about this sport, in the south of Tenerife you will find different fields where you can play under a pleasant temperature, all of them with well cared facilities. Many of the courses located in the south have beautiful views of the neighbouring islands.<\/span><\/p>\n

Golf has undergone spectacular growth on the island, so much so that Tenerife has been designated as one of the 15 best golf destinations in the world for 2020 according to the IAGTO awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wineries<\/b><\/p>\n

Wineries with Abona and Valle de G\u00fc\u00edmar Designation of Origin<\/span><\/p>\n

The Canary Islands have a long winemaking tradition, these wines appear in texts by Shakespeare and Virginia Wolf. The volcanic character of the land gives the wines a very particular taste. Something logical, if we consider that in Canary lands there are native varieties, which are not cultivated in the rest of Spain, some examples are: the list\u00e1n blanco, the malvas\u00eda, the vijariego, the list\u00e1n negro or the negramoll.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the southern slope there are two denominations of origin: Abona and Valle de G\u00fc\u00edmar, with numerous wineries and wines under these D.O., which you can visit to get a little closer to the wine and gastronomic culture of the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

We recommend a visit to Cumbres de Abona and the Bodega Comarcal Valle de G\u00fc\u00edmar.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Bodegas Cumbres de Abona, in Arico, you can make a visit and a tasting by previous reservation, to know its red, white and ros\u00e9 wines, and you can also taste the extra virgin olive oil that is produced on the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Bodega Comarcal Valle de G\u00fc\u00edmar you can get close to the tradition of winegrowers and winemaking in this area of the island. In addition, in each guided visit there is a tasting of white, red and sparkling wines.<\/span><\/p>\n

We recommend that to optimize your routes, and to be able to visit as many places as possible, you rent a vehicle and move around the island with total freedom.
